I love the truth and honesty in your post. When I started online it was just the same, "I'll start tomorrow" Anyone can make money online thats the easy part, but as you said its the getting started that many people fail at. Once you make that decision to act NOW you are one step ahead and your business will start to build. you just need to take action!

Hi Adrian,

I like the topic. As you know, I'm actually starting out in ecommerce again after a false start about 5 years ago. Looking back, I think the main reason that I didn't follow through with it was because I wasn't dealing with products that interested me. I would sell just about anything for myself or other people, it became a drag real fast. I ended up leaving that to pusue another interest, funnily enough.

I know that even deciding what you love doing can sometimes be a challenge in itself, so I'd like to contribute some thought on this step.

What I did was write a list of all the interests, jobs, hobbies, sports, clubs etc. that I have ever been involved in. This is my master list. I've experienced all these things and my social group largely consists of people from these things as we have similar interests. I am more likely to be successful if I can think of products/services relating to the things in this list. There's no point creating something for belly-dancers though, because I have never been part of the belly-dancer group. I could sell them a product but I have no understanding of the group or their needs.

I want to try buying my groceries online - that is one thing I wouldn't mind actually automating... I'm fairly time poor for domestic type things. Well.. not that time poor. I just hate doing them!

Great story Adrian. I love buying online, although there are some times when going into a store is easier, but the convenience of shopping from my couch is great. (which is why I purchased from you!).

Cheers, Anthony
